Since the debut of his first collection in 1986, Dries Van Noten has established himself as an unfaltering vision of avant-garde luxury. Raised as the third generation in a line of Flemish tailors, Van Noten attended Antwerp Academy to pursue fashion design and graduated in 1980. After building experience as a freelancer, Van Noten launched his 1986 debut collection as part of the Antwerp Six collective of fashion designers. The designer's commitment to his personal inspiration has garnered years of critical recognition, and in 2008 Van Noten was named Designer of the Year by the CFDA and in 2014 the MusĂ©e des Arts DĂ©coratifs in Paris held an exhibit detailing his designs and inspirations. The label’s ready-to-wear collections are materialized in an array of abstract patterns, colors, and unique materials. A lively Modernism takes the shape of bold prints, exaggerated tailoring, and slouchy shirting that push retro references into the future.Â
