Although Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta’s label Eckhaus Latta is a relative newcomer compared to MM6, a women’s sublabel of Maison Margiela that was founded in 2004, both brands demonstrate a keen understanding of fabric and silhouette for FW19. Inspired by outdoor exploration, Eckhaus Latta’s collection features stunning jacquard knit florals, pseudo-psychedelic block prints, and color-flecked wools that feel readymade for communing with nature. Equally impressive, MM6 continues Margiela’s thirty-year history of turning the expected into the unexpected, the old into new; quilted fabrics associated with outerwear are transformed into t-shirts, scarves, and bags, while knitwear is transformed into outerwear through heavyweight yarns and insulated linings. |
